Engawa

In a nutshell: Teppanyaki restaurant specialising in Kobe beef.

Why should you care?
This is part of the Firmdale Hotels Ham Yard Hotel and is a combined suchi and Wagyu Teppanyaki restaurant. (Soft launch – full opening Februay 19)

The Italian Job

Why should you care?
Chiswick beer fans are in for a bit of a treat with this Italian craft beer gastropub which is taking over the old Pickwick’s Wine Bar in Devonshire Road beside La Trompette. Expect lots of craft beer, burgers and more.

Blacklock

Why should you care?
This basement location with a colourful history promises lots of charcoal grilled chops plus cocktails for a fiver too.

Blixen 

In a nutshell: Grand brasserie in Spitalfields
Where is it?

Why should you care?
This restaurant and bar is from Clive Watson, who has previously opened Riding House Cafe, Village East and more. It’s billed as “an informal take on a grand European brasserie”.

Chez Chow

Why should you care?
 The people behind North Audley Cantine are converting their downstairs space into a separate cocktail bar called Chez Chow. There will be new bar snacks, a brand new cocktail menu and it’ll all be themed around the owner’s dog.

This restaurant is from the same people who brought us Beach Blanket Babylon, with very British food and decor as well as a terrace with a flame pit.

Tommy Tucker

Why should you care?
This is a new pub for Fulham from the people behind the very popular restaurant Claude’s Kitchen and Amuse Bouche champagne bar. Expect them to be “bridging flavoursome street food pizazz with Claude’s Michelin kitchen experience”.

Jinjuu

Why should you care?
Judy Joo, who worked at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants before earning fame on Iron Chef previously ran the restaurant at the Playboy Club. This will be her first London restaurant.

Portland

Why should you care?
This restaurant is from Will Lander (Quality Chop House) and Daniel Morgenthau (formerly 10 Greek Street) who are teaming up for an all-day restaurant on Great Portland Street.

Amaru

Why should you care?
 Amaru is going to be a Nikkei eatery and takeout joint serving up Japanese food with a Peruvian twist. Located in St Katharine Docks, it’s from the people who brought us the highly rated Bravas Tapas.

Fraq’s Lobster Shack

Why should you care?
 Fraq’s is a small (30-seater) eat in and takeout restaurant with a brief menu featuring East Coast American specials and focusing on lobster and seafood.

Jago

In a nutshell: European/Middle East restaurant in Shoreditch
Where is it?
68-80 Hanbury Street, London E1 5JL
Why should you care?
Jago is the first restaurant from Louis Solley, who used to head up Ottolenghi in Notting Hill. He’s now opening an all-day restaurant in Shoreditch with a focus on European and Ashkenazi inspired cuisine.
